Music May!

In my previous post, I briefly mentioned our afterschool club’s theme of Music May for this month. The theme is not defined strictly, it’s just a month where people could work on their music, may it be playing a specific instrument, composition, transcription, etc.

I’ve been playing piano every now and then as a therapeutic hobby, but I realized that I never really transcribed whatever piece I am playing formally. I attempted to do so traditionally, using old-fashioned pencil on paper, but found it distracting as it feels like I am learning how to write an entirely new language. Reading is very different from writing, as with any language! So, transcription was the route I chose to challenge myself with for Music May. And eventually, I hope to apply skills that I learn from this transcription project into composing pieces in the future.

I asked two of my cousins what their favorite songs are from Genshin Impact and arranged those for solo Piano. I also chose one of my favorite Genshin songs to arrange as well. The following are the MIDI files of the arrangements I transcribed through MuseScore!

I’m also adding here the PDF files of the Piano arrangements below. If you have any requests, let me know!
